+ It took us more than 24 hours to make it to Mendoza from Cafayate. We had to change bus at some station on the way but when we arrived all the cheap tickets were sold out. We were obliged to buy the tickets for the night ride in a VIP bus... Yuhuu!!! Besides the huge leather seats, we had a waiter who served food, wine, champagne...
+ We stayed in a very nice hostel with the spirit of living in a family home. The owner was a very kind person but a character, and he told us the weirdest stories of his life (how he was cured in the UK after he crashed with a plain during the Falklands War or how he killed the only giraffe of the Mendoza zoo as he sold the food to the zoo which had some poison, and many more). We were not impressed with the city itself as it felt like being in a European big city. So we did a lot of activities outside Mendoza.
The hostel
The city
+ Mendoza is Argentina's wine capital. All tourist come here for the same reason: to visit its fameous bodegas, vineyards and taste the different wines from the region. Thus, the wine tour was mandatory! We learnt a lot (too much) about the production, color, taste, what kind of cork to use and all that stuff. Check out how we make our tasting ritual.
The experts in wine tasting
+ After all the taste paraphernalia, Dani got into the serious business....
+ Outside of Mendoza were some very nice thermal baths. We spent a very sunny relaxing day there.
