Ilha de Santa Catarina: finally back to the beach

17 Nov.-26 Nov.

+ We arrived in the island´s biggest city Florianoplis in the morning and took directly a bus to a fishermen´s village "Barra de Lagoa". We found the best hostel ever! The owner insisted that it wasn´t a hostel, but his house. And indeed, he lived their and made us feel at home too. The house was with plenty other backpackers from all over the world (mainly Australians) and we were all cooking together, renting cars to drive around the island, taking a boat ride, going to the beach surfing or just sunbathing, suffered endless speeches about Brasil´s or Southamerica´s history from owner (as he loved to talk) and of course, we had too many Caipirinhas together... It was very hard to leave the place... One essential part of the house was Serginho, the cook & barman (well, he was actually still constructing the bar, but made the best fruit cocktails) for the evenings, who had such a positive energy that everyone was just happy around him.

Iguazu waterfalls: the power of Pacha Mama

14-16 November

+ The Iguazu waterfalls are a must do for anyone coming to Southamerica. The falls define the border between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. They are visitable from the Brazilian and the Argenitinian sides but the experiences are totally different so we defenitively recommend to do both sides.

+ The best is to start with the Brazilian side because it gives a very good overview of the area. From the Argentinian side you get closer and can feel better the strengh of this natural wonder.
