Paraty: breaking our feet with the cobblestones

27-29 November

+ Our last horrible long distance trip. More than 24 hours, 5 buses, 1 taxi, 2 lost Irish girls and lot of waiting. Just to start, it took us 2 hours (for 30km) to get to the bus station where we would take a long distance bus to Sao Paulo: 10 hours more. Once there, we couldn´t get any direct connection to Paraty so we followed the recommendations of the clerk at the bus station: "go to Ubatuba and there catch a bus to Paraty, very simple". Well, not so simple. Once in Ubatuba we checked 3 bus stations and collected 2 lost Irish girls (who cold not speak any Portuguese or Spanish or understandable English) before finding the right one. After 2 hours waiting, they tell us that there is not direct bus but we will need to change again in another "town". The "town" was a bus stop in the middle of the jungle with an abandoned bar and some very spooky wierd looking people. Another hour of waiting and being a bit afraid (since we were the only tourists, a very visible ones with the Irishs) until we catch the last bus to the lovely Paraty.

+ At least the hostel was great, in front of the beach. The town is also really beautiful. A colonial town very important in the XVII century, as main harbour used for the transport of gold from Brazil to Portugal. Another very important aspect of this place: it is the cradle of Cachaça. Actually before the Cachaça was called Pararty... Well, that´s what they say.

+ Paraty lays on a beautiful bay which is surrounded by hundreds of islands and awesome beaches. Our second day we did a boat cruise to visits some of this wonderful places...Sun, beaches, beers and live bossanova: Paradise!!
