Monte Verde: Costa Rica's most awesome Cloud Forest

1 September

+ Getting to MonteVerde wasn´t exactly easy. Well, it was easy but it cost us more money to make 200km than it  would have cost to go to Mexico by  bus, some 800 km away. The thing is that we lost the only bus which was supposed to go to Liberia early in the morning , where we would have catched another bus and then another. We waited 1h and the bus never came so we decided to go by taxi to a place where we needed to catch the connection for making some 40km. Once there, we are told that the bus will not pass in the next 6 hours.....so we managed to take a combi bus which left in that moment but they charged us far too much. Well, in summary, we messed it up and spent lots of money. But of course, we learnt the lesson : No more taxis in Costa Rica!!! (You feel completely ripped off, like when you catch a taxi in Brussels).

+ The good thing is that we arrived in the beautiful town of MonteVerde early enough to go for a night tour in a reserve park.

+ Next morning we did a day tour in the another natural reserve, a cloud forest. It was very beautiful and we saw one of the most amazing birds of all central America: a Quetzal. This is a holy bird from the time of the Maya civilization. It is also the official symbol and currency in Guatemala. To be honest, the most excited of all the people in the tour group was the guide :)
